This release lets you arrange hand-picked content in the Content Loop and Content Carousel blocks in exactly the order you want! Plus: the newsletters list now shows when a colleague already has one open in the editor.
Content Loop block: Reorder the content in Static mode (#846)
The Content Loop and Content Carousel blocks can show a hand-picked (Static) list of posts instead of an automatic one. Reorder Content lets you arrange that list yourself, and the order you set is the order readers see on the site.
What’s new
A Reorder Content button now sits under the Content field on any Content Loop or Content Carousel block in Static mode. It becomes available once you have picked two or more posts.
It opens a window listing your posts in their current order. Move a row with the up and down arrows beside it, or drag the row by its grip. Save applies the new order and Cancel leaves the block untouched, so nothing changes until you choose it.
Content the site can no longer return, because it has been deleted or moved to the trash, now keeps its place in the list and is labelled Unavailable content with its ID number, rather than quietly dropping out of the block.
Show who is currently editing in the newsletters list (#812)
The All Newsletters list shows when someone else has a newsletter open in the editor. A line appears under the subject with their avatar and “[Name] is currently editing”, using the same editing locks WordPress posts already have. It updates in the background, roughly once a minute, without reloading the page. The indicator covers the first 100 rows of the list, and if another plugin disables the WordPress Heartbeat feature the list still works, just without the indicators.
