Our 5 favorite product updates from Q2, 2025

At Newspack, we ship updates every other week that improve how publishers connect with their readers, run their business, and build trust in their communities. But at the end of every quarter, a few new features really stand out that solve persistent problems or bring a little extra polish to the platform.

Here are our five favorite product features from Q2.

Give credit where credit is due

Publishers have long needed a better way to reflect the complexity of authorship with articles like investigative stories with multiple contributors, or freelance pieces that don’t warrant a WordPress user account. They also needed more flexibility to give credits for photos, graphics, editing, or research.

Our new Custom Byline feature makes that possible. You can now combine freeform text with linked author tags, creating flexible bylines like “Photos by Jane Smith” or “Reported by the Investigations Team,” without losing the structure that powers author archives.

It’s a simple but powerful way to make storytelling more accurate, more flexible, and more human.

Give readers control over their email experience

Audience engagement and management shouldn’t be an afterthought. Your readers are the foundation of why your content exists! That’s why we’ve made it easier for them to manage their communication preferences directly from the “My Account” page.

Readers can now update their email addresses themselves, removing a frequent support burden for publishers and improving list quality in the process. It’s a small upgrade, but one that builds trust and keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Target your audience by device type

Not all calls to action work equally well on every screen. This quarter, we added device-specific targeting for Newspack Campaigns audience segmentation. Publishers can now choose whether campaigns appear on desktop, tablet, mobile, or all devices, making it easier to deliver messages that match the moment.

Whether you’re promoting a donation drive or a newsletter signup, this added control helps ensure each campaign hits the mark.

Support accessibility compliance with less friction

With the EU Accessibility Act now in effect, publishers serving EU-based readers (and offering paid products) are required to provide an accessibility statement on their site.

We built a tool to make that easier. Our new Accessibility Statement creator generates a draft compliant statement, pre-populated with information about Newspack’s checkout process, and automatically places a link in your footer. All you need to do is slightly tailor it to reflect your organization’s specific services.

Make it easier for readers to browse your archives

Archive pages often don’t get the attention they deserve, but they’re a key part of how readers explore your content. We introduced a new Grid Layout option for archive pages that brings a more modern visual experience to category, tag, and author archives.

It’s a simple change that makes your site feel more polished and helps readers discover more of your work.
