In this release we’ve done some housecleaning on the code that syncs reader contact data to the connected email service provider (ESP). You should see more consistent and useful data for readers who have multiple different subscriptions (which happens most often when a reader’s subscription expires and they repurchase a new subscription at a later date) or both subscriptions and one-time donations.
To clarify the behavior of contact data syncs, we’ve published this handy page on the Help site which explains each data field’s intended behavior and how to configure sync behavior to your needs.
Change default behavior of Site Kit when tracking logged in users
By default, Sitekit will not track activity from any logged in user. Newspack now changes this behavior and turns off tracking only for users who can write posts, still tracking subscribers and customers.
Newspack already did that if Reader Activation was active. Now it does for every site.
Newspack Media Kit
The Newspack Ads plugin now lets publishers easily create a “Media Kit” page that tell advertisers about a site’s audience and ad packages. A similar feature was previously achieved by the use of a third party plugin.
