Newspack Elections is a free “no code” solution that enables you to easily publish dynamic profiles of elected officials and candidates for office.
It is a WordPress plugin that integrates seamlessly into your website using the Gutenberg block editor — making it easy and intuitive for non-coders to use.
Newspack Elections was created in 2020 by Fernando Diaz as Govpack. Thanks to a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Newspack has assumed responsibility for development and support of the plugin.
Why Newspack Elections?
Newspack Elections gives you a way to create hundreds of candidate profiles at once that are compatible with the Gutenberg block editor. They can be easily inserted into voter guides, stories, or just about anywhere on your WordPress site.
These profiles can incorporate key candidate information, giving your audiences easy ways to understand who will be on their ballot and to find things like campaign websites, social media profiles and other details that help them make informed voting decisions.
Examples
Dozens of newsrooms used the plugin to create voter guides in the past few election cycles. They include Montclair Local, Mountain State Spotlight and AZ Luminaria.
