This release contains a number of improvements to the Republication Tracker Tool, a plugin Newspack adopted when INN Labs shut down. This tool adds the ability for people and other publications to easily republish stories from a site. As an example, here is a post from Oklahoma Watch that can be republished.
We’ve recently released a number of improvements to the plugin!
- You can now have the button open a republication modal, or you can have it take the user to a stand-alone page for republishing an article.
- You can select from a variety of different content licenses.
- You can add custom tracking codes on the republished content, so you can see how many views and where views are coming from on other sites.
- We’ve added better control over what media gets included in republished content to be more careful about possible licensing issues.
The next release will integrate Republication Tracker with Newspack’s RSS features, which will let you include only republishable content in RSS feeds as well as include the tracking snippet in RSS feeds.
Premium newsletters in the post-checkout modal
Subscribing readers to premium newsletters has been improved to allow the reader to opt-in to the list after a checkout. This will override the default behavior of auto-subscribing if the list is added to the post-checkout modal.
Other changes
- [FIX] Remove OneSignal v2 from the modal checkout: We already pushed out a fix to make sure OneSignal v3 stopped appearing in the modal checkout but had to adjust the code to make sure it also prevented the v2 version from appearing.
- [FIX] Password reset when setting a password during checkout: When a reader sets a password during modal checkout, it is reset (as if it were a password-less user). This is now fixed.
- [FIX] Hide WooCommerce’s ‘Coming Soon’ mode in modal checkout: When WooCommerce’s ‘Coming Soon’ mode is enabled, it will no longer display a message in the modal checkout.
