Easier tracking for donation products
In this release we’ve added an option to WooCommerce products to flag them as ‘donation’ products for tracking purposes. Prior to this change, Newspack only supported a single grouped donation product (with one-time, monthly, and yearly children). This change allows publishers to create multiple distinct donation campaigns, like e.g., “Support Local News” vs “Investigative Journalism Fund.”
You can enable this option on a product by editing it, and checking the ‘Donation product’ option that appears inline with other product options like ‘Virtual’ and ‘Downloadable’:
When checked, the product inherits all existing donation behaviors: donation-specific checkout UI (“Donate now” button), coupon disabling, Stripe metadata labelling, reader activation handling, contribution meter tracking, and reporting exclusions.
Editing unsynced patterns is back to one click
WordPress 7.0 introduced an extra confirmation step before entering edit mode. We’ve updated this using a settings option baked into WordPress. Editing unsynced patterns will still show a pattern icon in the block toolbar, but no longer require clicking on the ‘Edit Pattern’ link.
Updated republication tracker options
The per-post checkbox for the Republication Tracker tool has been modernized – this is mostly of note because it changes the appearance of the box, and moves the total number of views from the meta space below the post editor to the sidebar:
