Unified reader registration and verification
New readers can now verify their email address the moment they create an account on your website — no need to hunt for a verification link later or dig through My Account settings. The one-time code prompt appears immediately after a reader registers, across every sign-up entry point: the sign-in modal, the Newsletter Subscription block, and the Reader Registration block.
The sign-in modal has also been simplified into a single email field. Readers no longer have to decide whether they’re “signing in” or “creating an account” — they just enter their email and they’re automatically routed to sign-in or register.
Newsletter links can now bypass restricted content
A new option available in Access Control > Advanced Settings allows readers coming to the site from a newsletter sent via Newspack Newsletters to temporarily bypass all content restrictions for up to one hour. This lets known newsletter subscribers see gated content with less friction—no need to log in first. Because this makes access control less restrictive, it’s turned off by default—visit the Help site for more information.
