Hotfix roundup: October 26–30, 2026

Here’s what we’ve fixed since Hotfix roundup: October 12–23, 2026. The Advertising section includes a fix for a server error on some posts.

Newspack

  • On archives and homepage lists, posts with a fullscreen Iframe block showed an empty excerpt. Excerpts now show the post’s text. On sites without Jetpack or Yoast, a fullscreen post’s own page now hides the rest of the page behind the iframe, as sites with those plugins already did. (newspack-blocks@4.36.4)
  • On sites with Apple Pay or Google Pay in modal checkout, Google Analytics skipped the submission step for those purchases, so the checkout funnel showed a false drop-off before payment. Wallet purchases now report that step, as card payments do. (newspack-blocks@4.36.6)
  • On sites with subscriptions, readers whose last subscription had ended still counted as subscribers in Google Analytics and in Google Ad Manager targeting. Those readers no longer count, so expect the “Is Subscriber” count and subscriber ad delivery to drop once. (newspack-ads@3.15.6)
  • On sites that turned off the PWA plugin, returning readers’ browsers kept requesting an old background script on every page. Browsers now drop the script after one visit. (newspack@6.56.2)
  • On sites running both Yoast SEO and Complianz Premium, Yoast rewrote thousands of its index records in repeated bursts with no content change. Yoast now leaves Complianz’s internal content out of its index. (newspack@6.56.2)
  • On sites using News Revenue Hub, admin screens and the Donate block settings now say RevEngine, its new name. (newspack-blocks@4.36.4)

Advertising

  • On sites running Super Cool Ad Inserter, posts whose classic content was only line breaks failed to load with a server error. Those posts now load with no ad inserted. Posts with real content get ads as before. (super-cool-ad-inserter@0.7.9)

Republication Tracker Tool

  • When a republisher pasted HTML from the Republish button into the block editor’s visual view, the original site’s icon appeared at full size, usually 150 pixels. Newly copied HTML keeps the icon at 16 pixels. Stories already republished stay as they were pasted. (republication-tracker-tool@2.9.7)
  • In the Republish modal, the Plain Text and HTML tabs now show the same byline, including Custom Bylines. Co-Authors Plus bylines keep their “by” in Plain Text, and regular bylines now use a lowercase “by” in both tabs. (republication-tracker-tool@2.9.6)
  • For stories that display HTML as text, such as a code example, copies from the Republish modal now keep that text as text, matching the story on the original site. (republication-tracker-tool@2.9.5)
  • In Chrome, stories copied from the Republish modal and pasted into the block editor lost their Parse.ly tracking, so views of the republished copy never reached the original publisher’s Parse.ly account. An ordinary paste now keeps that tracking. The story pastes as a single Classic block. (republication-tracker-tool@2.9.8)

Campaigns

  • On prompts with a button that links to the same page, such as a donation tool that opens from #donate, the story reloaded on every click and the editor refused the link. These buttons now stay on the page, and buttons in a prompt card have a Button link field that accepts these links. (newspack-popups@3.20.3)
  • Form submission rate in Campaigns Insights read 0% on every site, because prompts never reported form submissions to Google Analytics. Prompts now report submissions from the Reader Registration, Newsletter Subscribe, Donate, and Checkout Button blocks. (newspack-popups@3.20.4)
