Hotfix roundup: July 13–17, 2026

Here’s a roundup of the fixes we’ve shipped since Hotfix roundup: July 6–10, 2026.

  • Fixes a problem where a reader who deleted their own account while belonging to a group or institutional subscription could accidentally cancel the subscription for the whole group. The group owner’s subscription and everyone’s access are now preserved. (newspack@6.45.3)
  • Readers reaching a site through their library’s off-campus proxy (such as EZproxy) are no longer wrongly turned away with a “we couldn’t verify your location” message. Institutional access now works correctly for these readers. (newspack@6.45.2)
  • Fixes express checkout (Apple Pay and Google Pay) failing in the pop-up donation and checkout window when the digital wallet supplied address details the site isn’t set up to collect. These payments now complete instead of erroring out. (newspack-blocks@4.27.1)
  • Fixes stories shared between sites in a network sometimes arriving with broken embeds — an audio player or similar block could show up as garbled text. Distributed posts now keep their block content intact. (newspack-network@2.20.6)
