Introducing Newspack Collections

Collections lets you manually group related posts into curated sets, from special reporting series and event coverage to digital print issues and themed roundups. Whether you’re organizing investigative work, creating editorial packages, or building content archives, Collections provides the flexibility you need.

Collections enable you to:

  • Organize digital print editions – Create beautiful digital representations of your print publications with issue numbers, volumes, and publication periods.
  • Build curated content series – Group related stories for special reporting projects, event coverage, or editorial roundups.
  • Structure with sections – Mirror your print publication’s organization with customizable sections (News, Opinion, Sports, etc.).
  • Feature cover stories – Highlight key articles as cover stories with special prominence.
  • Provide multiple access points – Offer downloadable PDFs, digital editions, and subscription/order links for each collection.
  • Create rich archives – Automatic archive pages with grid or list layouts showcase your collection covers.

Getting Started

  1. Enable Collections in Newspack > Settings > Collections.
  2. Create your first collection from the new Collections menu in the sidebar.
  3. Assign posts to collections directly from the post editor sidebar.
  4. Visit the Collections archive page on your site at /collections or add a Collections block to showcase collections on any page.

Collections is perfect for publications that want to elevate their content presentation and provide readers with curated, high-quality content experiences.

Checkout Button: Grouped Products and new UI for variation selection

The Checkout Button Block now supports Grouped Products. It can be used to group variable subscription products for an advanced tier with frequency configuration:

Along with that, the variation selection for Variable Subscription products has been restyled for a unified experience:

An additional feature of this change is restricting the purchase of another product or variation within the group or variable subscription. If the reader already has an active subscription, they will not be able to purchase:
