Newspack’s Ad Unit Widget can be used to manually place ads from Google Ad Manager inside the content of posts and pages.

Using the Ad Unit Widget

Before using the Newspack Ad Unit Widget, you will need to set up Google Ad Manager as an ad provider on your site, and create at least one Ad Unit.

Once that’s complete, you can add an Ad Unit Widget by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to Customize > Widgets, and select the widget area you would like to edit.
  2. Click Add a Widget.
  3. In the panel that opens, scroll down to find the Newspack Ad Unit widget, or search for it at the top:
  1. Click the widget to add it to your widget area.
  2. From the Ad Unit dropdown, pick a specific ad unit to show.
  1. Click Publish to save your changes.
