Newsletter editors who copy-and-paste between WordPress and Mailchimp can get some time back in their day by using the Newspack Newsletter plugin now available free to anyone.
In researching pain points of online news publishers, many cited the hassle of switching from app to app to app to get things done. This plugin lets an editor use the familiar Gutenberg bock editing tools to more quickly build out a newsletter, all from the friendly confines of WordPress.
The plugin, available here, works with Mailchimp, though integration with Constant Contact and other major email-service providers soon will be added.
An initial setup is required to tie into Mailchimp, using a third-party service called MJML. A link to get credentials from that company is included.
After that, users can choose from one of four default templates Newspack has built into the plugin, or start from scratch in the editor. Editors can save an unlimited number of new templates after that.
Here’s a six-minute video that walks through the setup and use of the plugin.
